Syria, VA

September was a busy month! I have a few blog posts to write with photos to share from my adventures. First, I will start with this one about or celebratory vacation to Syria, VA.

Forrest and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary with a vacation to the tranquil Shenandoah Valley, where we holed up in a beautiful secluded cabin situated on a very large pond. It was the perfect way to spend our anniversary. We went hiking (a lot), fishing, horseback riding, and spent time cooking, napping, reading, drawing and enjoying the peace that the natural world provides in spades.

It's hard to believe that this majestic bit of nature is located only 2 hours from our home in Alexandria, VA. It seems worlds away, having a welcomed lack of cell and cable reception. A place where there could be a veritable 'bear party' at any time, though I was assured that the bears are merely a nuisance and are 'fraidy cats'. Part of me was hoping to see one, but the smarter more rational part of me hoped otherwise.

Here are some photos from our trip.
